Bishop Loch
Primary, Easterhouse
Cathy Goldinger, Deputy Head, contacted KCG for advice on developing the school
grounds.
The school has secured £1500 funding from Grounds for Learning, it is
hoped that this can be increased by fund-raising activities and other funding
sources.
KCG has spoke to the children at assembly to ascertain their thoughts on their
playground.
KCG has also spent two days in the classroom using maps of the school to allow
the children to decide where specific features may be positioned with the help
of Greater Easterhouse Enviroment Trust .
Parent and staff 'questionares' have also been distributed, with the findings
taken
into consideration before any works are carried out.
KCG is working closely with Greater Easterhouse Environment Trust, 'The School
Board',
Countryside Rangers with the hope that other organisations
will come on board as the project develops.
Future Plans
Initial findings are that the playground is in dire need of brighting up, with
fence painting and murals high on the agenda.
A quiet corner is also required. The school children have stated that they would
like an area where they could sit and read or talk to their friends.
Bike racks are also proposed which would allow the children to cycle to school.
A wildlife garden will also feature in future plans as will willow sculptures
or tunnels which caught the children's imagination.
